The Fundamentals of SD53

 What does the SD53 Central Committee do?

The Central Committee is the governing body of SD53 between conventions and is responsible for all business, including filling officer vacancies, approving expenditures, recruiting volunteers, and organizing events. The Central Committee consists of the Executive Committee, precinct chairs elected at each precinct caucus every even-numbered year, each member of the Congressional District Central Committee residing in the Senate District, and each member of the State Central Committee residing in the Senate District. The Central Committee meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm.

What does the SD53 Executive Committee do?

The Executive Committee is the governing body of SD53 between Central Committee meetings.  The Executive Committee consists of the party officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Outreach and Inclusion Officer), and the twelve Directors at large. The committee meets every Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.

DFL Constitution and By-Laws

The Constitution and Bylaws of the Minnesota DFL Party provide the foundational rules for all Party activities. This document is subject to amendment and approval by the State Convention every two years. The Bylaws further define and explain the operating procedures of the Party and can be added or amended by the State Central Committee or State Convention.
